"When's the best time to buy?" This is a question I get ALL of the time. The used-boat market is hot right now and the time to buy in 2018/2019 is whenever you can get your hands on the boat you want. A common problem in the buying process these days is that a buyer will sit on a boat they are interested in and then when they finally decide they want it, it's gone. With that being said, there is no definitive answer, as there are always great deals out there, but the off-season is when it's an overall buyers market.
Fall and winter (boat show season) are arguably the best time of the year to buy. For buyers interested in either new or used, this is when you are likely to find the best prices. If you are buying new- many factories tend to offer discounts and incentives around September and October since the demand is low. They are also trying to get rid of current models in order to make room for new ones.
If you are buying used- fall and winter is still a great time to buy as sellers are usually looking to have a new boat before the next season and the perfect time to sell is when their current one is just sitting there. The used boat market is very hot right now,
Summer and spring are known to be the worst time to buy if you aren't in any rush to get on the water. Since this is boating season, so many people are out buying boats, raising demand and sometimes prices. From a sellers perspective, they are in less of a rush to sell since they are able to still enjoy their boat this season. On the contrary, buying in the spring allows you to prep your new boat for the upcoming season.
In general, off season is the best time to buy if you are looking for the best possible deal. But do not let that deter you during "low season", there are ALWAYS deals, and ALWAYS boats for sale.
